About Jemma

A space to understand yourself, not just your symptoms

I’m Jemma (she/her), a counsellor based in Blandford Forum, Dorset, offering in-person, online, and outdoor therapy. I help people who feel anxious, burnt out, or caught in perfectionism learn to meet themselves with kindness and calm.

You may have spent years feeling you have to be capable, composed, and endlessly productive — but inside, things feel tangled. You might long for rest, but your mind won’t switch off. You may crave connection, yet find yourself masking or overthinking every interaction.

Counselling gives you space to pause, breathe, and begin understanding what’s really going on beneath the surface.

How I work

My approach is integrative and humanistic — which means I draw on several ways of working, but always keep you at the centre. Together, we explore your experiences, thoughts, emotions, and the stories you’ve carried with you. I offer gentle reflection, practical tools, and creative methods where they might help.

The work can sometimes feel tender or uncertain, but it’s also grounding and deeply human. My role isn’t to analyse you from afar; it’s to be alongside you — curious, steady, and compassionate — as you begin to understand yourself differently.

I often work with people navigating:

  • Anxiety and overthinking

  • Perfectionism and self-criticism

  • Low self-esteem or self-worth

  • Burnout and emotional overwhelm

  • Life transitions or relationship strain

Whether you identify as neurodivergent or not, you’ll find space here to be understood as your whole self.

A neurodiversity-affirming approach

I’m autistic and ADHD myself, and this shapes how I listen and how I hold space. It means I pay attention to sensory experiences, burnout cycles, and the need for gentleness and clarity in communication.

My aim is always to help you feel safe and accepted — without pressure to mask or perform.

Outdoor therapy

Alongside traditional in-person and online counselling, I also offer outdoor therapy.
Some people find it easier to think and speak while walking or sitting outside, where movement and nature can soothe the nervous system.

Sessions take place in quiet green spaces. We move (or rest) at your pace — there’s no expectation to go far or fast. It’s simply another way of being together in conversation.

A final word

You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. All you need is a small bit of curiosity about what might be possible if you gave yourself time and care.

If you’re ready to take that first step, we can start with a short phone call — no pressure, just a quiet conversation about what you need.
